Bristol Bear's player attends successful Rugby Development session at BTC - Bridgwater & Taunton College

In the final week before the October half term Team BTC held its first Men’s Rugby Development Session of the academic year. The development session was open to all Year 10 and 11 students to come and experience rugby at Bridgwater and Taunton College.

BTC coaches delivered technical and tactical sessions on the state of the art 3G facility. The sessions were based around individual skill development and working within your teams playing to collective principles.

Throughout the session the BTC coaches were supported by Bristol Bears Loosehead Prop Jake Woolmore, who delivered a number of high paced and energetic games whilst also providing the students a chance to talk to him about his pathway in to professional sport. Jake also spent the afternoon with our current rugby squad and also gave an insight in to his sporting journey to our Team BTC students from various sports.

Brett Harvey (Team BTC Head of Rugby) said, we were really pleased with the quality of players who attended the session and also the variety of schools of which they represented.

The number of players attending who are involved with Bristol Bears Developing Player Programme and Player Development Groups also shows how our rugby programme is being recognised across the area. It was great to have Jake Woolmore come in and provide a fantastic insight in to his professional sporting career.

Jake Woolmore said:

It was great to go down and work with the students and also to give an insight into how I came through college rugby and in to professional rugby. I was really impressed with how hard the boys worked and the standard of rugby I saw on the day. Thank you to Team BTC for inviting me down.

We will be holding another Rugby Development Session in the February Half Term with a date to be confirmed on our website and social media soon.
