Bridgwater & Taunton College celebrates student success! - Bridgwater & Taunton College

This week Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) celebrated students at the Value Added Awards lunch. Awards are given for those who have shown the greatest improvement in their studies. Nominated by their tutors, students were recognised for their hard work and dedication.

The awards ceremonies took place at the Bridgwater and Taunton campuses were attended by parents, tutors and students. Nominated by their tutors, each student was recognised and received a certificate and a pin.

Andy Partington, Course Leader for Carpentry and Bench Joinery nominated Connor Franks he said,

Connor is an outstanding student. His attendance and maturity are exemplary, as is his attitude to learning and the craft area in which he is involved. Connor is always pleasant to have in the group, he is always polite and helpful to staff and students alike. Connor is highly employable, and very likely to be successful in his chosen career. Connor is a joy to teach.

Adam Shaw, Course Leader for Construction T Levels nominated Charlie Higgs, he said,

Charlie is very helpful to his peers and often simplifies things when he identifies someone is struggling. Charlie is an asset to BTC, presenting himself as a mature young man wherever he goes.

Thanshan Omer, Lecturer for Nuclear nominated Lexie Plompen-Philip, he said,

Lexie is the definition of a high achiever. She has consistently achieved Distinctions in her assignments throughout the year, and many of these have been on the first attempt. Not only this, but Lexie has become a role model within the group, with many of her peers looking to her for advice and support with their own studies.

Principal Andy Berry said,

This is one of my favourite events of the term. I love hearing about the progress our students are making. It’s important we recognise their hard work and achievements. We believe that this recognition will spur them on to continue and reach even greater heights!
