Catering Apprentice Gains Work Experience at the House of Commons - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Bridgwater College’s Catering apprentice, Kris Kay recently completed a week’s work experience at the House of Commons, London.

Kris, from Bridgwater is studying the Level 2 NVQ Food Preparation and Cooking with Bridgwater College and gained this exciting opportunity after Bridgwater College’s Executive Head Chef, Scott Pring, met the Commons’ Head Chef Mark Hill at a catering event.

The House of Commons Catering Service employs 270 staff with a kitchen brigade of 150 and consists of 15 different venues across four buildings, including the iconic Palace of Westminster.

Kris said,

“I worked in several departments and I particularly enjoyed the patisserie section and in the kitchen serving the Members Dining Room.”
