First qualifications for year 1 Outdoor Education students - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Level 3 Outdoor Education year 1 students have just come back from a five day activity residential on Dartmoor.

They took part in a variety of activities including gorge walking, climbing, mountain biking, sea kayaking and coasteering. They also completed navigation exercises in order to achieve NNAS bronze and silver awards.

Iona Mackenzie said,

“The residential was fun with a variety of new experiences that captured my imagination. My favourite activities were gorge walking and coasteering, where we really worked as a team.”

Tyne Govier, Course Leader, said,

“This residential is a perfect chance for the year 1 cohort to gain valuable experience and an opportunity to achieve a recognised qualification within the first six weeks of the course. It is a residential that tests the students whilst encouraging them to do more in the outdoor industry.”
