Graduation Celebration for EDF Apprentices - Bridgwater & Taunton College

The latest cohort of apprentices from the National College for Nuclear gathered, along with their friends and family, to celebrate their successes at the EDF Apprentice Graduation Ceremony.

Bridgwater & Taunton College and University Centre Somerset work in partnership with EDF, supporting one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects – Hinkley Point C (HPC) – in delivering a wide range of Apprenticeship programmes at the National College for Nuclear, which are required at many stages of the HPC Project.

The programmes from which students graduated at the ceremony were Level 3 Maintenance Operations and Engineering Technician, Level 3 Project Control Technician, and Level 6 Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship.

During the evening at the McMillan Theatre, the Apprentices were presented with their awards by EDF’s Matt Sykes, Managing Director – Generation, and Stuart Crooks CBE, Managing Director of Hinkley Point C. The event was rounded off with a three-course meal and an opportunity for the Apprentices to network.

Ryan Barnett, Curriculum Manager at the National College for Nuclear, said,

It has been wonderful to see the Apprentices’ successes celebrated. The occasion has provided a great opportunity for teaching staff to catch up with former students who are now qualified in their roles and to hear about what they are doing and where their qualification is taking them.

The partnership between EDF and Bridgwater & Taunton College continues to offer opportunities for to train for the jobs of the future. Find out more at the College’s Apprenticeship Jobs Fair in February.
