Hairdressing student wins Cosmopolitan Style Off Competition - Bridgwater & Taunton College

A hairdressing student at Bridgwater College has recently won the title of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s first ever ‘Style Off’ champion.

Sarah Eccles-Markey, who is studying the NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing at Bridgwater College, decided to enter the competition after her sister saw it in a magazine. After being shortlisted to one of only ten hairdressers from across the UK, Sarah was crowned Style Off Champion after competing for a panel of hair and beauty experts including Nicky Clarke. Sarah’s prize included the opportunity to work with Nicky Clarke on his new hairstyling range.

Sarah’s successes have also included entries to last year’s World Skills competition, hairstyling for a bridal magazine and a peacock creation for Vogue Magazine.

Sarah, who works in Studio B hair salon in Bridgwater said,

“Working with Nicky Clarke is a dream come true. To be in the presence of one of the industry’s leading icons will be a privilege I’ll never forget.”

Lisa Collings, Programme Manager for Hairdressing at Bridgwater College added,

“Sarah has been an exceptional student to teach, she is extremely motivated and has a thirst to be stretched and challenged as a learner. This shows the standard of work our students are producing after only a couple of years training. I have no doubt that Sarah will be extremely successful in the future and we are so proud of her achievements.”
