Sun’s exceptional contribution recognised at Buckingham Palace - Bridgwater & Taunton College

BTC is delighted to hear that Sun Sander-Jackson, a Level 5 HR apprentice at University Centre Somerset, was invited to attend the King’s 75th birthday celebration at Buckingham Palace in November.

The prestigious event, which was part of the NHS 75 celebrations, recognised the outstanding contributions of international nurses and midwives to healthcare over the decades. Sun attended the event representing the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

A qualified nurse who has achieved several accolades during her career so far, including an Inspirational Leader Award, Sun was recently appointed the regional lead for the south west for the chief nursing officer and chief midwifery officer’s black minority ethnic strategy advisory group.

Reflecting on her experience at Buckingham Palace, Sun said,

“I feel very humbled to be invited to Buckingham Palace on His Majesty the King’s birthday. It was a real privilege and honour to represent all our amazing nurses, midwives, and NHS colleagues at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, as well as across the south west.”

As BTC’s Higher Education provider, dedicated to real-life career development, UCS is immensely proud of Sun’s accomplishments and her commitment to healthcare excellence. We congratulate her on this remarkable achievement and are proud to support her continued success during the remainder of her apprenticeship.

Recently, Sun kindly agreed to speak on camera about the study support she has received at the Learning Resource Centre at our Taunton campus. Click on the video to hear what she had to say.
