Team BTC 80 vs South Devon 41

Team BTC travelled down to South Devon this week to play one of their final games of the season. Both teams started strong, with the score line being goal for goal. In the second half of the quarter Jazz (GD) and Hayleigh (GK) made some amazing turnovers allowing the girls to take the ball to goal. Team BTC pulled away with the score being 20-14.

In the second quarter, Team BTC knew they had to up their game. They set a goal to double their score. The challenged allowed the girls to play great netball, with Katie B (WA) getting the ball successfully over the long armed defenders to the shooters Maddie (GS) and Katie H (GA). Who, in the quarter had shooting stats of 95% plus. The team were able to exceed the goal with the second quarter ending 49-20.

For the third quarter Team BTC kept the defensive pressure high, Kylie (WD) was able to intercept South Devons second phase ball, allowing the girls to take it to goal. Turnovers were continually being made by sister duo Lucy and Izzy, who were plucking the ball from the air left, right and centre. This kept South Devons score low. The third quarter ended 65-31.

In the last quarter, Team BTC made a few changes in the attacking end. Anna came to WA, she gave good balls into the circle as well as continuing to fly to get interceptions. Hayleigh returned to the court as a shooter who scored effortless goals. The whole team continued to put in 100% effort, allowing them to keep their strong lead. The final score ended 80-41.

BTC vs SGS

We started off the match strong. Our defensive players were constantly fighting to turnover the ball but SGS had first possession and managed to score. This made the team fight harder as this game was important to them and they knew they had to continue with the strong defence. After a few minutes into the game Team BTC had taken the lead as the team were using tactical passes into the attacking circle and had amazing shooting from Katie Harris and Maddie Kennard making the score at the end of the first quarter 11-4.

During the second quarter we continuously kept pushing to keep up the strong defence and to turn over possession of the ball. There was good interceptions throughout the court but especially in the centre third and the defensive third were amazing as they repeatedly made the team gain possession. By the end of the second quarter we were in a healthy lead 25-10.

In the third quarter we continued to do close marking of our players, making it extremely difficult for SGS to pass to each other which meant that they kept making silly mistakes that benefited us as we gained possession and got the ball down to our shooting third where the amazing shooting continued even when SGS defensive started to get stronger. By then end of this quarter we still remained in lead with a score of 37-13 keeping the motivation amongst the team positive.

It came to the last quarter and we were determined to win by a healthy amount. We continued to play the game safely so that we didn’t make any silly mistakes that could let SGS gain possession of the ball. The team started to use diagonal drives into space to make our ball placement better which made it easier for us to get the ball down to the shooting third. The fight continued until the game ended 47-18 to BTC allowing us to keep our winning streak. The whole team put in all their effort and made sure that everyone remained motivated to continue pushing harder making the game enjoyable.

BTC vs South Devon (Home)

In the first quarter of the game between Team BTC and South Devon, Team BTC took on a strong lead with great teamwork and energy with drives and passing. The ball placement throughout the team was effective and lead to more shots at the post for Team BTC – this caused the score for the first quarter to be 18-9 with us in the lead.

The second quarter involved the same enthusiasm throughout with accurate runs to open up passing opportunities as well as drives into the D. This allowed Team BTC to still take the lead.

Although, in the third quarter a few changes were made and it lacked energy alongside power to make precise and efficient drives into the D and increase the chance of shooting; the rushed passing meant we dropped the ball or lost it to South Devon. Therefore the scores within that quarter dropped for Team BTC compared to the first 2 quarters.

Finally, the last quarter lacked intensity and motivation within the team, everyone started to decrease their drives and passing accuracy causing the opposing team to gain possession of the ball and make easy interceptions. However, Team BTC won the quarter as well leaving a score of 62-38 giving us the chance to maintain our winning streak!
