Team BTC Netball Progress - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Team BTC Netball have showed great progression to draw 38-38 against Richard Huish.

After a brief warm up and a tough test ahead against Richard Huish, Team BTC Netball focused and played an incredible first quarter. With accurate passes into the circle, our two shooters, Ellie Hooper (GS) and Rhiannon Crabtree (GA), brought the scores level at 11-11. With a successful first quarter completed, the team took a strong mindset into the second quarter.

After a brief team talk, they went back out to face a strong Huish side who had moved positions, providing a stronger defence. However this did not cause any issues to the girls. Strong support from Hollie Davies (C) and Grace Rennie (WA) saw the ball being fed constantly into our shooters, who again were on fire, which saw both girls having a shooting percentage of 60%, finishing the second quarter at 20-20.

After a quick change around in team positions, we faced another strong Huish side. Our defending team displayed a great performance, with Fiona Willmont, currently completely out of position and playing at C, making two interceptions, Alicia Clapp (GK) making four interceptions, and Sofia Dias (GD) also making four interceptions. These turned over balls allowed Hollie Davies, now at (WA), to help carry the ball down the court to our shooters. It was another tightly-fought quarter which finished with the scores of 27-28 to BTC.

Knowing that we were one goal up, the players had their game-faces on and were determined to secure a win. Fiona Willmont, back at her preferred position of WD, made an incredible five interceptions. After a short rest, Grace Rennie came back on as WA and made a key three interceptions helping to deliver the ball to the shooting circle. Rylie Stacey as GD secured two interceptions, stopping Huish from putting some crucial shots up. Rhiannon finished the quarter with an excellent shooting percentage of 91%. The final quarter finished at 38-38. The team showed a huge progression in the way they played in comparison to the first time they played against Richard Huish, and should be incredibly proud.
