Team BTC vs. Champion Sports FC - Bridgwater & Taunton College

In pretty testing conditions of high winds and heavy rain, the Team BTC/BTFC players set about the game on the front foot.

Having been involved in Development Days & ECFA trials during the week, it was rewarding to see the players focus fully fixed on the game.

Our opponents Champion Sport competed well, but Team BTC/BTFC edged proceedings – just on a few occasions overrunning the ball on moves into the visitors defensive third.

McKenna & Pfupa provided excellent outlets for the midfield to release inside or out, as they worked their markers well. Cottrill, Ham, Chubb & Plant gave as good denying the visitors opportunities as well as combining to advance the ball for Team BTC/BTFC.

The Team BTC/BTFC defence was alert on a couple of occasions where the visitors countered quickly. Watts, Jennings, Kruszynski, Allen & Durant well organised plus excellent on the ball.

The opening for the hosts eventually come by way of a corner. Cottrill swinging the ball in for Pfupa to meet well & head home 1-0.

In the second period Hurford who had taken up an advanced position before the interval set the scene with an excellent piece of skill. Flipping the ball over his marker, Hurford watched the ball onto his foot as he volleyed in the second 2-0.

Then straight from the kick off a little lapse in concentration almost presented the visitors a chance.. however Allen & Durant tidied up.

Team BTC/BTFC continued to exert pressure with good football from back to front. Pfupa, McKenna & Chubb almost benefitting from quick, neat play from the centre and the flanks.

Then the third came not long after McKenna hit the post. Chubb reacting well to the ball in the box where McKenna & Hurford almost connected before Chubb pounced 3-0

Replacing both Kruszynski & Jennings who both played well, Dennis came into defence to carry on the good work alongside Watts. Brown went into midfield to give Chubb an earned break. Ham & Cottrill maintained their strong grip on the centre as Durant kept up his good work providing extra width.

Keele was then introduced for Allen whose has arguably been at his best these past few weeks.

Keele was required to be quick out the blocks, as Champion tried their upmost to get back into the game.

However the game was effectively sealed by McKenna finishing off a good counter where Plant provided a super low cross that McKenna duly dispatched beyond the visiting keeper 4-0.

With such a good work ethic and togetherness amongst the Team BTC/BTFC side, a number of players could of arguably been man of the match. However on this occasion Pfupa increasing awareness & improvement of his role, plus a goal, he was rewarded with man of the match.
