Team BTC Weekly Roundup (24.01.24) - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Netball 2s

Team BTC 0 – 0 Petroc

Netball UCS

UCS 41 – 14 Winchester

UCS started the first quarter very positively with Ria (WD) showing good interceptions and Summer (C) making great drives to open the court up to make space and help the ball flow down the court. The score was 9:3 to UCS.

The second quarter saw Katie come on at (WD) making a huge impact and putting lots of pressure on the attack while Tilly (WA) was always free from her defender which made her a great option in attack leaving the score at 18:8.

The defensive pair of Sofia (GK) and Fiona (GD) were working extremely well together the whole game and made so many turnovers really helping the game go our way as we only conceded 2 goals in this quarter, leaving us at 31:10.

The shooters Lexie (GA) and Ellie (GS) were also working very well together in the circle with strong passes to one another and reliable shooting. Alisha (WA) helped the shooters by making strong feeds into the circle and opening up the space in attack by changing channels. The final score saw UCS take their second win in consecutive week with a great performance from everyone, ending the game at 41:14!

POTM: Sofia Dias

Team BTC 49 – 5 Huish

An outstanding performance from our Women’s Rugby team against Richard Huish. The team was dominant and displayed positive rugby with a culmination of tries across the team. The standard and skill set demonstrated within the game replicates from the hard work the girls have put in from practice.

Tries from Amie Young x2, Katie Escott x2, Maya Thomas, Phoebe Schoeman & Poppy Richards. Conversions by Molly Robb x7.

Player’s Player – Amie Young for continuous support off the ball and high work rate in defence.

Coaches Player – Phoebe Schoeman for excellent ball carrying and vision of the game.

Women’s Football

Team BTC 0 – 4 Hartpury 2

Team BTC hosted Hartpury for the first time this season. We started well with Campbell-Farmer creating a very early goal scoring opportunity, stopped by the Hartpury keeper. Team BTC played well throughout the first half in the build-up play, moving the ball quickly and cleverly to maintain possession. More opportunities were created during the half, several from Mills, Campbell-Farmer and Charles but none to break the deadlock.

We came out confidently from half time, keeping the standard and quality high. The back three of our captain Arnold, Payne and Pinkett were incredible in possession, working with the wingbacks to add depth and options to support our forward play. The midfield three of Puplet, Stanmoor and Mills worked tirelessly throughout the game allowing us to play through the thirds and come away with an incredible performance from the squad.

POTM – Hollie Stanmoor for her clever movement in the midfield to allow us to play our ‘give and go’, fast paced football through the thirds.
