Team BTC Women's Footballers take 11-0 Victory - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Team BTC’s Women’s Football team have won 11-0 against Millfield during a recent match.

BTC were looking to gain another win at King Western.  After 10 minutes, it was Jenna Markham that broke the deadlock.  Taylor Ford threaded the ball through.  Jenna Markham turned her player inside and out, then proceeded to calmly slot the ball in the back of the net.

BTC continued to play out from the back and manipulate the space.  The second goal game from Georgia Owen’s ball to Faith Bedford, who drilled it across the box for Brooke Stirrup to tap in.  The third goal came from Jenna Markham and Taylor Ford’s link up play again.  Jenna Markham crossed it into the box and Taylor Ford was there to guide it home.

With 30 minutes gone, centre back Sam Cox tries a spectacular effort from long range that nearly curls into the top corner but unfortunately hits the bar instead.  A near miss so still 3-0.

BTC dominated possession for the rest of the first half, moving the ball very well, which was starting to frustrate Millfield.  Two more goals came from Faith Bedford, meaning the first half finished 5-0 to BTC.

A few changes saw Niamh Nicholls replace Faith Bedford, Keeley Banfield replace Jennie Habbits, Ellie-Mae Bell replace Katie Garratt and Tia Asker replace Taylor Ford.  At the start of the second half, a through ball from Georgia Owen gave Jenna Markham her second goal, slotted nicely into the bottom corner.  Soon after, Niamh Nicholls picked up a deflection and got her first goal of the game.  At 70 minutes, BTC were 7-0 up.

BTC’s next goal came from a great run from Keeley Banfield from deep within our own half.  She released the ball to Jenna Markham, who cleverly let it run on for Tia Asker to curl into the top right corner.

Millfield were enjoying seeing a bit more of the ball in the second half with a 1-on-1 chance coming from their number 7 which was dealt with by our number 1, Elle Mitchell.  The ball quickly made its way to the other end, where Tia Asker got her brace with a beautiful finish.

Just before the end of the game, Faith Bedford got her hat trick with a great strike on her right foot.  Just as the ref was about to blow his whistle, Ellie-Mae Bell got her first of the game and sealed the win.  The game finished 11-0 to BTC.  Credit to Millfield who were persistently trying to make forward runs and be creative on the ball.
