Training and up-skilling constructors and civil engineers, the Construction Skills and Innovation Centre replicates a real-life construction site, with industry-standard plant, machinery and equipment. Construction site behaviours and standards are also learned alongside specific technical knowledge and skills.
The centre provides critical skills training and Apprenticeships for construction and nuclear new build, specialising in excavation, groundworks, concrete pouring, steel fixing, formwork, water utilities, lifting, operating, and a large number of CPCS disciplines.
Hinkley Point C has helped us to develop this centre and the ability to take people who have never had experience of construction in the past, and develop them in partnership with the employers at Hinkley. It is life-changing, and exciting for us as well as the apprentices and candidates we see at the centre.
CSIC is also home to Construction Live – an exciting and unique experiential programme offering delegates the opportunity to experience what it is like to work on a construction site. Now recognised as a vital work experience component to those on Degree and Apprenticeship programmes, Construction Live will see delegates experiencing first-hand, project planning, site management, hand tools, industry-standard plant, machinery and equipment, whilst performing to exacting construction site behaviours and standards.
