Begin your pathway to organisational success – as a Business Administrator you will develop diverse skills in communication, finance, problem solving and project management. This apprenticeship offers career versatility with the development of highly transferable skills. You will learn the importance of and how to effectively manage and engage with stakeholders. Stakeholders can include a wide range of parties such as customers, employees, investors, suppliers, government entities, communities and more.

The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Towards the end of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to take charge of a project and begin to showcase leadership qualities that can propel you into higher roles within the organisation.

Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training, equivalent to 6 hours per week,during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship. Specific rules govern this and it must take place in the apprentice’s contracted hours. The on-programme element of the apprenticeship includes building an online portfolio to evidence the knowledge, skills and behaviours you gain throughout your apprenticeship to meet the standard. The on-programme support includes:

  • Workplace gathering of evidence
  • Formative assessment against the knowledge, skills & behaviours
  • Delivery to meet the knowledge end point assessment
  • Suitable selection of a project with guidance for presentation and report

When you are ready to enter gateway, the assessor will support you in preparing for end point assessment via a series of mock activities.

Following this, your assessor, employer and you decide when you are ready to undertake the ‘End Point Assessment’ which includes:

  • Online knowledge test
  • Portfolio-based interview
  • Project/improvement report & presentation

Assessment Methods

Assessment is in the workplace and by an Assessor who has specific sector knowledge. You will be required to build an online portfolio using various assessment methods such as observation, professional discussion, work product and witness testimony.

The knowledge element will be assessed via online tests after each learning outcome has been taught and you feel ready to sit a multiple choice exam.

Progression Options

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you could be offered a permanent contract with your employer and work towards possible careers in management or a senior support role.
