At BTC we work collaboratively with our employers to mould on-the-job training and delivery in the direction that the company desires. Our Sports Apprenticeships vary between levels and we tailor these standards by identifying the gaps that suffice in your organisation, with solutions to recruitment and professional development.

Why take on a Sports, Coaching or Public Services Apprentice with BTC?
BTC has long-standing relationships with elite clubs and organisations and were the first college to work in partnership with a national governing body for sport. In 2016, we won a national contract with British Gymnastics to deliver Apprenticeships that enable aspiring gymnasts, and those nearing the end of their career, to be redeployed as coaches and instructors in gymnastics clubs throughout the UK. Coming hot on the heels of success at the London Olympics in 2012, this programme is further raising the profile of gymnastics right across the country and creating increased opportunities for young people to participate in the sport.
One of the College’s objectives is to increase the accessibility of sport across Somerset. BTC’s sports pitches at the Bridgwater Campus have recently undergone a transformation whereby sports academies, semi-professional and professional clubs can now train on the College’s new state-of-the-art, third generation substrate. Funded by the Sedgemoor District Council community mitigation fund and supported by Somerset Activity Sports Partnership (SASP).
Supplementing this, our Sports Centre and Fitness Zone (Bridgwater Campus) offers a wide range of sporting facilities available for numerous sport and fitness activities, including gym, indoor facilities, golf course, dance studio and riding stables.
BTC is also delighted to have been chosen as an Association of College (AoC) football Super Hub. The selected network of just 22 colleges from across the country, in partnership with the FA, has been formed to demonstrate the excellence and innovation of the FE sector’s football and futsal offers, and to provide the opportunity to strive for better.
The College will be at the forefront of new initiatives and offers, getting first access to pilot projects and innovation sessions to support in the development of the game, as well as the opportunity to apply for further funding.

How else can we help?
Although your business may belong primarily to the Sports, Fitness & Coaching sector, that’s unlikely to be its sole focus – you’ll probably have an accounts department, a delivery function, marketing, general admin, hospitality, customer service – the list is endless.
Increasing the productivity and efficiency of any of these areas could have a really positive impact on profitability, and an Apprenticeship programme is a really cost-effective way of doing that.
We offer a variety of different training solutions and sports memberships to support you with your business and our team will tailor your training requirements to your business needs.
