National College for Nuclear: Pioneering Nuclear Training in the UK - Bridgwater & Taunton College

The National College for Nuclear @ BTC (NCfN) stands prominently, nestled within the Cannington campus at Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC), is a state-of-the-art, award-winning training facility.

NCfN has developed and is delivering the UK’s nuclear sector curriculum, designing qualifications and training courses that are attractive to our students and meet the demand for highly skilled workers in the nuclear sector. Our courses are designed in partnership with the sector for a range of highly-specialised careers.

The NCfN is not just a training facility but where cutting-edge technology, including virtual reality environments and reactor simulators, bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry skills. Every room, every space, is designed to be a conduit for learning and innovation, mirroring the UK’s unwavering focus on nuclear technology in its contemporary industrial strategy.

The innovation doesn’t end at infrastructure, the curriculum also immerses learners in a vivid simulation of a ‘live’ nuclear installation, where students and apprentices navigate the intricate landscapes of a nuclear power plant.

Andy Berry, Principal of Bridgwater & Taunton College, said,

These facilities and courses have been designed in partnership with the nuclear industry to meet industry requirements and to ensure students are equipped with the skills they need to become the best they can be. The skills and qualifications students will achieve here will put them on a fast track for a successful career in the nuclear sector.

All of NCfN’s training programmes and qualifications are designed to meet the needs of the industry. Whether it’s an entry-level programme for a school leaver, Apprenticeship, professional development course or degree-level qualification, our learners are well-prepared for the future of clean energy.
