Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) students Olivia and Izzy returned to College before the start of term to practice dishes they will debut during the semi-finals of South West Student / Apprentice Chef of the Year 2023.

This continues the trend of BTC students demonstrating their high standards and commitment to their chosen profession, as they compete against regional apprentices who are embedded in the industry full-time.

South West Chef of the Year highlights the skills and creativity of the region’s professional chefs, including students, home cooks and juniors.

The prestigious judging panel is composed of several leading chefs who operate within the South West, providing their insight, passion and experience to the judging process.

Previous winners have continued their careers in award-winning establishments such as The Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe and Lympstone Manor in Exmouth.

Both Olivia and Izzy are stepping out from their comfort zones in what is both a professional and personal challenge that highlights their industry talents.

Within 90 minutes, Olivia and Izzy will prepare a two-course meal to serve a table of three, incorporating specified ingredients whilst utilising their own creativity to impress and surprise the judges.
