The course includes practical and theory studies in areas such as crop sciences, farm livestock husbandry and land-based machinery.
This course not only provides you with practical skills, it also ensures you are able to deal with the managerial aspects of a successful role in the agricultural industry.

Students will have the opportunity to:
Visit industry manufacturers and a range of agricultural shows such as LAMMA, The Dairy Show and Grassland UK Shows
Hands-on practical experience on the College farm
Have the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of employers.
Supervise other students on the farm in the second year of the course.
Learn a variety of employability skills whilst on a series of farm work experience at Rodway Farm
Take part in a study tour

Written exams, assignments and practical assessments
On completion, you could progress to the Foundation Degree in Agriculture Management at University Centre Somerset or an alternative university, or find employment in a managerial role within the industry.

Entry Requirements |
You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range including English and Maths, or to have completed a Level 2 qualification in agriculture (or equivalent) at Merit grade with GCSE English and Maths. Entry is also subject to a successful interview. |
Attendance Requirements | You will attend College four days per week to receive the underpinning knowledge for the practical skills you learn during your work placement. During the course you will have the opportunity to practice employability skills by completing 300 hours work experience on a suitable placement away from College. |

It is brilliant here, I have made lots of friends and the tutors are excellent. I am a hands-on learner and sometimes find studying hard and need extra help. My tutors have been fantastic and are always willing to help me. I have gained confidence in myself during my course and now have knowledge of all areas of farming.
