AS an Auto-care Technician you will be able to demonstrate expertise not only in the technical elements of your role, but also have a good grasp of the practical and theoretical aspects of the vehicle systems you service, you will develop excellent telephone, customer handling (including how to handle difficult customers and deal with customer disappointment) and effective sales skills, as well as strong problem solving and self-organisation skills. You will develop skills which ensure you are a valuable team member operating independently, understanding how your facility operates from a commercial perspective and how your actions contribute to business results, whilst maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
You will attend on a block release basis, studying in the classroom and via distance learning online content. You will also develop your practical skills in our high quality workshops.
You will work with your mentor on site at your place of work and with college staff to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to lead you seamlessly to your end point assessment.

I’ve really enjoyed learning all about the internals of cars and what a car relies on to run smoothly. This benefits me in the workplace because I know how parts work when I come to repair or replace them. So far my greatest achievement has been passing the first year. I’m really proud of this because it means I’m on track to becoming a qualified mechanic.
