These courses help you to develop specialist skills in your chosen subject and show employers and customers that you have the ability to do the job to an industry recognised standard.

A large number of courses, in particular those accredited by NPTC, recognise a specific range of knowledge and skills, culminating in a Certificate of Competence qualification and in some cases an identification card is provided.  These courses may also be specified as a legal requirement for certain industries and therefore are recognised as a Licence to Practise.

First aid

Available for people who want to learn basic first aid techniques, with a particular focus on the injuries you could experience when working in a high-risk industry such as land-based.

A first aid qualification is useful for your own personal development and for the safety of others. You will learn how to assess a first aid situation and how to deal with it in the most appropriate manner.

Forestry and Arboriculture

The forestry and arboricultural industry recognise that good health and safety practice is vital for operators and business.  Gaining industry recognised qualifications ensures that operators have reached agreed standards of competence.

Livestock

Our livestock qualifications have a strong emphasis on animal welfare and cover legislative and non-legislative requirements to meet the needs of good livestock husbandry.

Machinery

There is a wide range of machinery used in the land-based industry. Understanding machinery maintenance and safe operational skills are key to efficient use, good working practice and preventing accidents, leading to business benefits in terms of less machinery damage and down time.

Pest control

Plant protection and pest control products need to be used legally, safely and competently. NPTC qualifications provide assessment of both underpinning knowledge and practical skills.
