We want you to be happy and healthy in order to lead an active lifestyle. Being active helps the brain function more efficiently, makes you feel good inside and improves your concentration.
The BTC Active team offers a wide range of FREE regular active sessions throughout the week, meeting the student demand. The sessions are planned to fit in with your timetable so there really is no excuse not to join in with friends and have some fun, be active and become a better you!
If you’d rather spend your free time enjoying other activities then don’t worry, BTC Active also offers curriculum specific sessions through our Active, Healthy, Employable or Active Hour programmes.
To help run the programme, the College has launched BTC Activators, enabling students to take on key roles in planning, co-ordinating and delivering sport across the College
Bridgwater & Taunton College Tackling Inactivity Project Lead Nathan Dyte says:
The BTC Active programme has been put together in order to encourage all students to be physically active. I believe the programme offers a wide range of opportunities that meet the interests of the students. The sessions are set up to be fun, social and accessible to all students, regardless of ability or experience, students shouldn’t be afraid to come along and have a go.

Examples of activities include:
Volleyball
Come along for a social game of volleyball with your friends, jump about, burn some energy and have some fun.
Zumba
Dance fitness class featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music.
Trampolining
Bounce away the stresses of college life, learn and master basic techniques to a routine in safe place with lots of laughter.
Yoga
A great way to keep your mind and body healthy, perfect if you’re looking to reduce anxiety and stresses but also to help you relax. Great for sports performers who want to develop core strength and flexibility.
Softball Cricket
Perfect for anyone wanting to give cricket a go but don’t fancy getting the pads on. Softer ball, lighter bats, fast paced and exciting. Come and give it a whack!
Fencing
Master the art of fighting with swords. No need for your own kit it’s provided for you, so what’s your excuse, there isn’t one! Come and give it a go.
Gym Sessions
Supervised open access to the gym, supported by trained staff who will be on hand to support you achieving your goals.
Parkour
Realise your body’s potential, learn how to safely jump over objects, wall run, and balance and move in new ways you didn’t think you could.
Archery
Take aim and fire. Learn basic archery skills and master you aim
Futsal
Indoor football using a heavier ball to enhance the skill level. Great fun with friends and a perfect way to keep fit and healthy. All abilities welcome.
Just Play Football
All abilities welcome, come and join us for football and nothing else. Play in mini games, or just shoot at goal the choice is yours.
All Ability Football
This session is especially for those with additional needs, no matter what their ability or experience in football.
