This non-assessed programme focusses on developing essential horticultural skills, for those wanting to use their knowledge for their own personal development and studies. There are no expectations of prior knowledge or learning for entry onto this programme.
Units of study/what is involved:
The course delivery is a practical hands-on course that encompasses the fundamental principles of horticultural practices, developing both horticultural knowledge and the application of practices. This allows you to apply your knowledge to become a successful hobby gardener, or to support you working in the industry.

The assessment of this course is by a range of in-college practical formative assessments and plant identification tests.
Successful completion allows you to consider the BTCC Principles in Sustainable Horticulture, BTCC Advanced Practical Horticultural Skills or indeed a suite of RHS courses.

Once I complete my course, my dream is to work for The National Trust or travel and find employment in gardens abroad. The course has helped me see all the opportunities available to me, so I feel confident my future looks bright.
