The College values and celebrates the diversity in its student cohort and workforce and believes the College will benefit from both employing people from all equality groups at all levels of responsibility, and working with students from all equality groups at all curriculum levels, over all areas of college activity.
The Equality & Diversity Policy demonstrates our commitment to equal opportunity for all those working and studying at our college. This policy applies at all times to staff, students, customers and suppliers. All users have the right to be treated equally, with dignity and respect and without being subjected to discrimination.
Bridgwater & Taunton College endorses the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s ‘working definition’ of antisemitism, which reads as follows:
“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”
This endorsement is complimented by our ongoing commitment to uphold the statutory duty to protect freedom of expression under Section 43 of the Education (No. 2) Act (1986).
The College’s Equality & Diversity Annual Report summarises key actions that we have taken towards the achievement of equality & diversity during the last academic year.
