Course Overview

This course is suitable for beginners. You will be learning basic skills and knowledge and will be supervised as you undertake various Plumbing practical and knowledge based activities. This programme is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and learn from experienced tradespeople, in state-of-the-art facilities.

The course focuses on a range of plumbing theory and practices.

Units include:

  • Unit 101: Structure of the construction industry
  • Unit 102: Fundamental safe working practices
  • Unit 103: Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Unit 104: Site preparation for working in the construction industry
  • Unit 108: Above ground drainage
  • Unit 109: Copper pipework
  • Unit 110: Plastic pressure pipework
  • Unit 111: Low carbon steel pipework
  • Unit 112: Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • Unit 113: Plumbing science.

You will need to provide your own steel toe capped footwear.

Assessment Methods

You will complete a range of knowledge checks at the end of each unit, this also includes a practical training and assessment portfolio.

Progression Options

On successful completion, you could undertake the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating and reach “Plumber’s Improver” level. The completed 7202-01 qualification can be accredited to prior learning into the 6035-02 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating, to reduce the number of practical assessments required at Level 2.
