You need to be employed to start an Apprenticeship. Please visit our vacancy page or if you have an employer, please ensure you add full contact details of your employer within your application. If you are unable to secure employment, you could enrol on a full-time study programme and transfer to an Apprenticeship at a later date. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option.
This course has three pathways; High Performance sports coach, Community Sports Coach and School Sports Coach. Applicants will already have sports coaching experience and ideally will have a coaching qualification in one or more sports.
This course is delivered in the workplace with additional on-line tutorial and training sessions. Apprentices will be able to access some HE webinars and attend a Sports Coaching Residential run by the College. On completion, apprentices will gain professional member of The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Applicants will need to fund their own travel to attend the residential. All training, delivery and assessment costs will be met by either Organisational levy or government and organsiational contribution.

Delivery will be at the workplace and on-line teaching and tutorial sessions. Final assessment will be at End Point Assessment which will comprise of:
Completion of this apprenticehip standard may enable learners to progress to the final two years of the BSc Applied Sport Science with Coaching Degree run by University Centre Somerset.

This course has taught me a lot of useful skills like being organised to help prioritise my workload and meet deadlines and communicating effectively which is essential when coaching sports.
